It is very important that we do our bit to help out the environment. Most of the big organization and corporate companies are going green. To go green simply means to be a little conscious of what is affecting the environment and try out ways to stop that. Everyone should do their bit to ensure that they are saving the earth. In case you are planning to throw a party, instead of doing it the way that everyone else does, why don’t you throw a green party. But how can you do that? Well, it is quite simple.

First of all instead of sending out paper invites, send electronic cards. That would save a number of trees from being cut down. Forget about those decorations which involve paper. Say an absolute and firm no to disposable decorations. You could use plants and flowers to decorate the room instead. You should totally stay away from paper plates and plastic cups. Use steelware or silverware instead. In case this is not a children’s party, you can try out the china. There are many ways to go green. You just would have to use your creativity.

Did you know that the air from the interiors of a home is no better than the air from the roads in terms of pollution? If cars and bikes are responsible for releasing hazardous substances in the air, the paints and chemicals used to decorate our rooms are no better. But why are these paints so hazardous? What makes them a potential threat to the environment?

Paints typically have a chemical in their composition called the Volatile Organic Compounds. As the name suggests this substance is quite volatile and is releases in the air through the paints. In fact this is not only the case with fresh paints.

Even rooms which are painted years ago can be the source of releasing this polluting substance. That is why in case you are thinking of going green, you should get paints which are low on the VOC compound or have a Zero VOC mark on their can.

There is literally no way to live in this world without heat. But polluting the environment using artificial heating systems cannot be accepted even if it is indispensible. People say that there are not lots of options for using Eco-Friendly heating systems. But they are just plain wrong.

The very first means of heating was achieved in our houses through fireplaces. These fireplaces are still built in some houses for an architectural point of view but they are hardly used. Our fore fathers knew that burning fire woods in those fireplaces will bring complete combustion as well as increasing the combustion rate. So using fireplaces today will leave no waste and it is yet an eco-friendly way of warming our house.

Using heat pumps is also an effective method. These geothermal pumps measure the heat content of the earth’s atmosphere and they will maintain that temperature in our home. This is another eco-friendly method to heat the house.

With the rise of global warming the general temperature of every part of the earth has increased. This means that it is imperative that we take help of external cooling systems. However most of the coolants used in the houses are quite harmful for the environment. They are primarily responsible for the release of CFCs which in turn is responsible for the ozone hole.  Of course with so much talk around the town about going green using a cooling system which is harmful for the environment is not really a very good idea.  That is exactly why people are going for alternative eco friendly cooling system.

The Thermoelectric cooling technology is one which is quite good for the environment. The main reason it scores so well is that it does not use the CFCs or even HCFCs.  Moreover when they are on they produce no noise or even vibrations. That relieves the environment of the noise pollution that could be created.

Sometimes children can be quite irrational. At other time they can be quite sensitive. It falls upon you to bring your child up in such a way that he or she is aware of the environmental needs. In fact you will have to take every chance to show your child the values of being eco friendly.

The first step to teaching your child is to set an example. Take small steps on saving the environment. Switch of the Electrical switches whenever you get a chance. Make sure the tap is turned off whenever water is not being used. Children are quite observant.

You just do not know how closely they keep watching you. You must teach your child about the three Rs or Recycle, Reduce, Reuse. When you talk to your child about being eco friendly, make sure you do not sound like some boring teacher giving a lecture. Make it interesting so that the child will think it is cool to be eco friendly.
