Green building technologies
Posted on: Thursday, December 11th, 2008 at 10:11 am
The concept of green building has come out of the need for meeting higher standards of environmental responsibility and energy efficiency. The major focus is upon the resources such as materials, water and energy and attaining of efficiency through these resources. In this way, you will have reduced energy bills and a more comfortable and healthier environment for living. The green building technologies reduce the effects of environment related hazards and ease out the effects on environment and also on human health.
One of these technologies is using the natural daylight designing technology in which a home is built in such a way that day light enters into the home to the maximum extent possible, so that the energy costs are reduced to a great extent and people’s productivity and health is also improved. These buildings are made up of eco-friendly materials like wood, cork, jute, rubber and bamboo, highlighting the entire concept of green building technologies.
New technology to turn coal green
Posted on: Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at 8:00 am
Most of the global warming issues are concerned with coal but a new technology has recently been developed which can double the power of coal and at the same time, minimize the green house gas emissions.
According to this test done in Australia, when coal does reaction with air in Direct Carbon Fuel Cells (DCFC), a highly energy efficient electricity is generated, thus making coal a green source of power. This new technology will definitely help in halving the amount of the coal needed for creating electricity. In this way, the industry will get a very significant savings on its energy and costs, which can be passed over to the consumers.
Apart from saving a lot of energy and money, the DCFC also provides a very clean power. It has also been expected that with the help of this technology, carbon dioxide, a harmful greenhouse gas, will also be safely and easily trapped and stored.
