Going Green With an Older Home

You are an owner of an existing home and you are not planning to re-construct a home any time soon. But does that mean that you cannot incorporate green materials and products into your existing home? No. By making small changes and improvements in your older home, you can go green with it.
First of all, get your air conditioning and heating systems serviced every year so that they keep working efficiently, without harming the surrounding. Make sure to open your windows every now and then so that fresh air can come in and you can cool or warm up your rooms in a natural way.
Consider getting good insulated drapes so that you can control your room’s temperature without consuming a lot of energy. Use energy efficient bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs so that energy costs are reduced to a great extent. They also save you a lot of energy which means that they are friendly to the environment.
